Print Shop Woes
You wouldn’t think a simple business card printing would lead to a day of woe, but you’d be wrong. A certain free lance writer — let’s call her, um, Sally — recently decided that it would be nice to have business cards to hand out when the subject of what she did for a living came up. The cards would have her website, which listed her resume and her published articles and linked to her blog. Simple, right?
So she went to the print shop down the street from her house. “All your printing needs,” was their slogan. But Sally found getting her printing needs met was like pulling teeth. First, there was this little dog in the shop, which apparently belonged to the owner. It jumped around yapping through the entire meeting, making it hard for Sally even to be heard. On top of that, the clerk didn’t seem to grasp what she needed. She just wanted her name, numbers, and website in tasteful print. The guy must be to used to flyer printing, because he wanted to give her colors, fonts . . . she ended up with a decent business card, but she was surprised to not end up with a poster.
